Philly Girl Finds a Slice of Heaven at Dockside

Pandora Woods grew up in Philadelphia, graduated from Temple, and then embarked on a life journey that took her away from her hometown for over three decades. Finally last year, she returned and rediscovered the city from a whole new vantage point, thanks to her new home here at The Residences at Dockside.
“I call Dockside my little slice of heaven,” Pandora said, laughing. “I love it! I see the city lights at night, I wake up to absolutely lovely views every day, and living here, it’s accessible to everything.”

Pandora Woods moved into Dockside in April 2016, after an extensive search in and around the city for the perfect place to call “home.” Initially upon returning to Philly, she wasn’t quite sure where to go. At first, she moved in with her sister on the Main Line and thought about building a small home on her property. But after a few months, she started looking around for a place of her own; something in the suburbs; the kind of home and lifestyle she had been accustomed to for so many years. That plan changed when her two daughters intervened.
“My daughters were smart,” Pandora reflected. “They said, ‘Mom, you’re in the city every day and even on Saturday and Sunday. Why don’t you try living in the city for a while?’ They found me an apartment close to downtown. I lived there for about a year and absolutely loved it! I finally told my realtor, that’s it. I’m not moving back to the suburbs. I want to find a place downtown. My sister suggested I look down by the river. My realtor said, ‘I have the perfect place’ – and took me to Dockside.”
“When I walked into the building, I was greeted and welcomed in such a wonderful way by the men downstairs. Then I went upstairs to look at the unit and immediately said, ‘This is where I want to move. Do the paperwork!’ I put an offer in right away.”

“It’s so open,” Pandora said about her new home. “With the big windows in the living room and the bedroom, it just feels so big. I really like that open feel – it’s perfect for entertaining. You can get 30 or 40 people in here very comfortably. And I love overlooking the city and the river.”
Living at Dockside, residents also enjoy gated access, state-of-the-art security, a 24-hour concierge, and ample indoor parking, with reserved spaces and free visitor parking. Amenities include an indoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center with cardio and resistance equipment, and a spacious Club Room for entertaining, which features a full catering kitchen, pool table, grand piano, large-screen TV and adjacent 4,100-square-foot terrace overlooking the river. Residents can also take advantage of a free shuttle bus that runs daily from their building to Center City, with a number of convenient stops.
Pandora takes advantage of the fitness center regularly and has already had two parties in the Club Room, including one to celebrate her daughter’s graduation from medical school. “Everybody just raved about how beautiful the room was,” she commented. “We had about 80 people here and we were able to use the outdoor terrace. It was perfect.”
One of Dockside’s most appealing amenities for Pandora is its ideal location, in the center of the thriving Delaware River waterfront. Residents are just a short walk from Penn’s Landing and close to lots of high-end shopping, restaurants, nightlife and activities.
“Living here, we can walk literally everywhere,” she said. “It’s such a great feature! We’re in a nice, secluded environment, but you can easily walk downtown in ten, fifteen minutes and be in the middle of all the buzz and busy-ness of the city. Walk across the South Street Bridge and it’s a whole other experience on South Street; so eclectic and diverse. Then you can go over to Spruce Street Harbor for an entirely different feel! And we’re so close to the most historic square mile in the country, with all the tourist attractions like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the graves of the slaves, Constitutional Center and so much more. Dockside is in the middle of it all!”
Pandora is not only a resident at Dockside; she has become one of the building’s biggest advocates.
“I cannot say one bad thing about this place,” she emphasized. “There’s a great diversity here; people of all races and generations, and everyone is so friendly. The guys at the front desk, every single one of those gentleman is so very nice. Everyone has been so accommodating. The buying process was painless the whole way through. They are so professional, reliable, congenial – and meticulous. The maintenance guys are always taking care of things, even the little things like cleaning the fitness center and the railings in the hallways. I have recommended this place to my friends from the suburbs. One of them has already moved here and loves it, too. I have found my dream home here at Dockside. It truly is my slice of heaven!”
